Age ain’t nothin’ but a number, right? Well, that’s what Aaliyah said. But to kids, age is much more than a number. I remember my age being a super important part of my identity growing up, and I don’t know about you, but I was usually pretty attached to that 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 of year, as if it made a difference.
Now? I sometimes don’t even remember how old I am, whereas Isabel goes around telling everyone she’s two (the fact that this is the only “number” she knows is irrelevant). I suppose it’s super cute for now, until she’s part of the terrible-twos and I want her to be something else (but not a threenager). I imagine explaining the concept of age to a toddler is also going to be somewhat futile interesting, because to them, age really is just a number.
