Kids Talking about Dreams

I don’t remember most of my dreams as a kid, who am I kidding, I don’t remember most dreams as an adult. And besides, most dreams suck. But I do remember, that there was always one dream that reoccurred much more frequently than the rest, and it seemed to always manifest itself after we returned home from a plane trip.

I was fortunate to travel quite a bit as a kid. My grandparents lived in Maryland (we lived in L.A.), so we would visit them about every other year during the holidays. And I always loved flying because there was something about the smell of the airport/airplane that reminded me of the holidays, grandma and grandpa, snow, etc. Even as an adult, that airplane smell is a little nostalgic.

However, whenever we returned home, I often had a dream about living in a world full of gigantic luggage. I remember crying out or running into my parent’s room, and maybe even sleeping in their room, because of this nightmare. I no longer have this dream, and can’t even remember the last reoccurring dream I had (that’s a good thing, right?), but I can only imagine what it will be like when my daughter is able to articulate her dreams.

I’m sure she dreams now, I mean, why else would she moan in her sleep? In fact, her dreams are probably just a bunch of chrining, gibberish, and agua drinking cats, dogs, babies, and bananas (ie. the words she knows).

The kid in this video make some astute observations, like how adults dream about the next day of the weekend, if you only knew. I suppose so, but only because I don’t have to work. But the girl at 2:35 basically sums up the wishes of every adult, just wait for it (HINT: liquid gold).

  1. Did you ever wake up and think I have to remember this dream and then forget it anyway? I get that.
By the way, are you not into traveling?

  2. All the time! Oh, I love traveling. Who knows what that was about as a kid.
